1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Logos Bible ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application. By using Logos Bible, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Logos Bible collects minimal data to provide its services:

• Bookmarks: Verses you bookmark are stored locally on your device using Room database and optionally synced to Firebase Firestore under an anonymous session. No personal account is required.
• Reading preferences: Your chosen Bible translation, font size, and dark/light mode preference are stored locally on your device only.
• Cached Bible content: Bible books and chapters you read are cached to Firebase Firestore to enable offline reading. This data contains only scripture text — no personal information.
• Crash reports: Firebase Analytics may collect anonymous crash and performance data to help us improve the app. This data cannot identify you personally.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
• We do not require account creation or login.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not record or store your voice or audio from Text-to-Speech.
• We do not sell any data to third parties.
• We do not show targeted advertisements based on your behaviour.

4. Third-Party Services

Logos Bible uses the following third-party services:

• API.Bible (api.bible) — provides scripture content. When you read a chapter, your device makes a request to api.bible servers. Please review their privacy policy at api.bible/privacy.
• Firebase (Google) — used for offline caching of Bible content and anonymous analytics. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
• Android Text-to-Speech — the audio Bible feature uses your device's built-in TTS engine. No audio is transmitted to our servers. The TTS engine is managed by your phone manufacturer or Google.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your bookmarks and preferences are stored on your device and optionally in Firebase Firestore. Firebase data is stored in secure Google Cloud servers with encryption in transit and at rest. We use Firebase security rules to restrict access so that only our app can read and write Bible cache data.

We do not have access to individually identifiable information about your reading habits. Cached Bible content in Firestore contains only scripture text and chapter identifiers.

6. Children's Privacy

Logos Bible is suitable for all ages and is designed to be a safe, family-friendly application for reading the Holy Bible. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app contains no inappropriate content, advertisements, or in-app purchases targeting children.

7. Permissions Used

• INTERNET — to fetch Bible scripture from api.bible and sync cache with Firebase.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect when the device is offline and serve cached content.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — optional, only used if we add devotional reminders in future updates.

No other sensitive permissions (camera, microphone, contacts, location) are requested.

8. Offline Use

Once Bible books and chapters are loaded, they are cached locally via Firebase's offline persistence feature. This means you can read previously loaded content without an internet connection. All offline data is stored securely on your device.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete all local data by uninstalling the app.
• Clear Firebase cached data by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings.
• Contact us to request deletion of any data associated with your anonymous session.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
